Hai Hong Liu ran a seedy brothel empire around the North East for which she was jailed two years ago.

i posted as well,its very censorious that paper,i had to remove the word sex! i only mentioned sex workers but had to use sexworkers! ah well it is a labour paper after all,what do you expect?

If we had the same laws as New Zealand. 50% of sex workers in the England would not be Legal. After the vote in Scotland in two years time will dfox still be going on about New Zealand.


Since 2003 prostitution has been decriminalized. It is legal for citizens over 18 years old.

Owners must be over 18 years old, a citizen of New Zealand or Australia, and have an Operator's Certificate. Only applicants with serious criminal convictions will be denied.

The laws were only passed in NZ by 2 votes. So if NZ was in the EU like us and had no control of who came to the UK to work in the sex industry there is no way the laws would have been passed in NZ. So why does iusw keep going on about the NZ laws most of the members of the iusw are not even British.

It's does matter if members of iusw are not British. Why does a union go on about how good NZ laws are and we should have the same laws in the UK. If we did many of the iusw members would be out of work. When will the at the iusw get it into they head we cannot have the same laws as NZ. When will the iusw put something forward that will work in the UK. I bet in five years time it will still be NZ this and NZ that.

How many branchs are outside the UK?

The International Union of Sex Workers (IUSW) is a United Kingdom based trade union for sex workers. It campaigns for the decriminalisation of prostitution, and to have sex work acknowledged as viable labour. In 2002, members voted to affiliate with the GMB, a general workers union. The union now has official recognition as the sex industry branch of the GMB.[citation needed] Some of the services offered by the union include: self-defense classes, free legal advice and training for members who wish to leave the sex industry.

The union was formed in 2000 partly as a response to actions taken by Westminster City Council in London to try and remove prostitutes from the area. The union publishes a quarterly bulletin entitled "RESPECT!".

The International Union of Sex Workers supports the x:talk Project, which provides free English classes to migrant sex workers in London.

They are a member of Backlash, which was formed in 2005 in order to oppose a new law criminalising possession of "extreme pornography". Since 2009 Thierry Schaffauser is president of the GMB branch, Adult Entertainment&IUSW.
